"Vivianne was incredibly quick to ramp up and was able to conduct high-impact user research with minimal supervision on a number of different projects in Google Maps. She was super proactive, coming up with new ideas on how to approach complex research problems. I was also impressed by Vivianne's very strong communication skills whether she was presenting to peers or an audience of executives. I'd recommend Vivianne to any UX Research team."

Miguel Malheiros, Sr. UX Researcher @ Google

As a UX Researcher I provided foundational & evaluative research for the Google Maps, Search and Google Assistant teams. I was also the UX Researcher for Product Excellence Reviews - a collaborative process with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Engineers on launched features that marries qualitative and quantitative insights - and presented findings to executive-level stakeholders. Surfacing impact-driven research and translating them into actionable, empathy-driven insights were at the core of my responsibilities at Google.

Impact

Some forms of impact I've made include the following:

  • Led over 40 in-depth, domestic & international sessions using contextual inquiries, interviews, qualitative methods based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy methodologies to uncover user motivations, needs, and overlooked intents
  • Spearheaded international projects on launched experiences; reported potential risks and insights to executive-level stakeholders on a quarterly basis that influenced design decisions in Google Assistant
  • Ensured that research translates into product impact through clear recommendations and intentional collaboration with engineers, product managers, and designers
  • Prioritized the humanity of our users through deeper conversations about empathy and the barriers that prevent us from understanding & practicing it
  • Utilized previous experiences in the counseling/human services field to quickly build rapport with participants and create spaces of self-discovery within user studies
  • Helped stakeholders express a deeper interest in user research and increase their participation in user studies
